AMERICA'S OLD TIME FIDDLER'S HALL OF FAME
Located in the Pioneer Music Museum, Anita, Iowa, just off I-80 at Exit-70.
There are presently well over 100 old fiddles in the Hall of Fame, mounted beside the portraits of those who played them. This particular Hall of Fame honors one of the most priceless of America's traditonal music torch arriers, the old time fiddler. What started as an honorarium for the State of Iowa fiddlers, quickly turned into a Hall of Fame honoring fiddlers from all across America. Some still carry on this incredible meusical art for of our forefathers and the pioneers that settled this great land.
The tunes, reels, jigs, waltzs, and songs that American danced to while they homesteaded this new land, were mostly old time fiddler favorites. All sizes, all shapes, all speeds, all types. Fiddle music, sometimes known as the 'devil's music' was the backbone of our settler's entertainment needs, and the old songs and tunes still live on in the hands of the young who find this particular American musical art form still exciting, still enjoyable, still necessary.
Induction into this Hall of Fame is based on a nomination from a previous entrant.
