Annual Old-Time Rural Roots Music Festival, Fremont, Nebraska
Submitted by oldtimemusic on Wed, 10/08/2008 - 21:27.Jack & Florence Arnold created the festival in Fremont, Nebraska. They did it for many many years. First Jack passed away, and two years later Florence passed away. Immediately two jackasses attempted to take the festival over. They did a most horrible job and the event collapsed. Bob & Sheila Everhart waited three years and then re-instituted this wonderful old-time rural music event. For the past three years they have worked hard to get it back where it was, at considerable financial cost and time. Today it's a functioning and incredibly entertaining festival to attend.
Dates for 2009 are October 2-3-4. Times of performances are usually:
Fri - Noon - midnight
Sat - 10am - midnight
Sun - 10am - 8pm

RURAL ROOTS MUSIC COMMISSION
Submitted by oldtimemusic on Sat, 04/05/2008 - 19:23.This 'commission' was set up by the Board of Directors of the National Traditional Country Music Association to honor and reward those in the recording industy who have taken interest in what 'rural' music is all about.
These awards are given away during the annual fund-raising festival of the NTCMA, (the full week before Labor Day annually), and the winners must be present to win.
There are many different categories, and unlike the Grammy's, awards are made to those who have made significant contributions to the music genre the NTCMA considers 'rural' in nature, regardless of their record sales, or their television appearances, or their record company promotional activities.

OAK TREE OPRY
Submitted by oldtimemusic on Sat, 04/05/2008 - 19:08.The Oak Tree Opry is located on Main Street in Anita, Iowa. Exit-70 off Interstate-80 puts you very nearly at it's front door. Less than a mile from the Lake Anita State Park, with full electric and water hook-ups, it's a delightful entertainment center for those who like their music a little softer, a little more entertaining, a little more meaningful, and a little more country. Started by Bob & Sheila Everhart in 1995, it has continued to be a focal point for high quality performers with a large appreciative audience.
AMERICA'S OLD TIME FIDDLER'S HALL OF FAME
Submitted by oldtimemusic on Sat, 04/05/2008 - 18:21.Located in the Pioneer Music Museum, Anita, Iowa, just off I-80 at Exit-70.
There are presently well over 100 old fiddles in the Hall of Fame, mounted beside the portraits of those who played them. This particular Hall of Fame honors one of the most priceless of America's traditonal music torch arriers, the old time fiddler. What started as an honorarium for the State of Iowa fiddlers, quickly turned into a Hall of Fame honoring fiddlers from all across America. Some still carry on this incredible meusical art for of our forefathers and the pioneers that settled this great land.
WORLD MUSIC EVENTS
Submitted by admin on Sat, 04/05/2008 - 12:08.Our first event was held in Vienna, Austria, in 1998. Our second was in Dublin, Ireland, in 2000. Now we are preparing for an exciting trip to Prague, Czech Republic. One of the few major cities that was not bombed in the 2nd world war, this city of fairy-tale castles will be the destination for our traditional music and dance festival the first full week of November, 2002. If you are an entertainer and you perform old-time country, bluegrass, folk, and/or roots music, this is the trip for you. If you are a traveler, this will be the most exciting trip you'll take in 2002. Not only will we provide round-trip airfare (from certain hub cities); we'll also provide a delightful room in a 4-star hotel (some meals included); as well as optional side trips.
